KENSINGTON CRICKET CLUB (KCC)

Kensington Cricket Club (KCC) was founded in September 2021 in Whangarei under Northland Cricket Association by Ralph Correa, Sebi Singh, Prthvi Singh Sonny, Raj Kaler, Mayank Shukla, Shivraj Jadhav, among others. Having played for different clubs across Whangārei and other cities, the founding members recognised the need for a club that provided more opportunities to play cricket in a relaxed, friendly and welcoming environment.

Their vision was to create a club built around friendship, enjoyment and a genuine sense of community – a community that extends beyond any particular background or group and welcomes anyone who simply wants to play cricket.

What started as a shared passion among a group of players has grown into a club that continues to bring people together through cricket, while providing opportunities for players of all ages and abilities to participate, develop and enjoy the game.

Kensington Cricket Club currently provides opportunities for players of different ages and abilities to enjoy, develop and compete in cricket. The club caters for younger players through junior and introductory cricket programmes, including opportunities for children from around 5–8 years old (SMAASH HUB) to learn the fundamentals in a non-competitive environment, with junior cricket continuing through the 6–11 age range and beyond.

For senior players, KCC offers competitive cricket across a range of formats, including T20, One-Day and Declaration cricket.

The 2025/26 season was a particularly successful one for the club. KCC won the T20 competition undefeated and won the One-Day competition, while finishing runners-up in the Declaration competition.

KCC is about more than results on the field. The club is supported by families, players, coaches, sponsors and members of the wider Whangārei community. Whether you are a child picking up a cricket bat for the first time, a junior looking to develop your skills, an experienced cricketer looking for competitive cricket, or someone simply wanting to get involved with a great community club, Kensington Cricket Club welcomes you.
